Summer holidays in Carinthia Sport offers
The Karawankenhof offers you a lot of sport possibilities in and around the hotel. Get active in the fresh air and explore the Villach region – with walking, cycling, hiking, climbing, golf, tennis or skiing.
The Thermenhotel Karawankenhof in Warmbad Villach is perfectly situated - there are sport offers everywhere. It is situated in a running and walking area with 50 km of marked trails, two signposted running route and several fitness courses. The well-developed family-friendly cycle paths along the River Drau and River Gail (the Gailradweg path is just 1 km from the hotel) are very popular with our guests.
The popular Ossiacher See lake and turquoise blue Faaker See lake can also be reached by bike in no time. Passionate racing bikers will find top class mountain passes and Alpine roads in the Karawankenhof peaks and the Julian and Carnic Alps. Our top tips for ambitious cycles, tests of strength or simply having fun are the ‘Thee Countries Tour’ or the famous ‘Ironman Austria route’.
During the cold season, the family-friendly Gerlitzen and Dreiländereck ski resorts are just a few minutes’ drive away and the Monte Lussari in neighbouring Italy attracts visitors of all ages to its ideally prepared pistes. Winter on the Dobratsch, Carinthia’s first nature park, tends to be mild and perfect for cross-country, winter walks, sledging and snow shoe walking by sunlight or moonlight. Based between the countries of Austria, Italy and Slovenia, Warmbad-Villach is the perfect starting point for gaining a taste of Alpen-Adria culture.
After your sport and fitness programme you can just relax. In just a two hour drive, you can cross the border to enjoy an ice-cream in Grado, go shopping in Udine or amble your way through the harbour town of Trieste. Slovenia is also worth a detour to take in the cultural variety of its capital Ljubljana or explore the endless walking possibilities on offer in the Triglav National Park, a real treasure of nature.
