Avid swimmers will find what they are looking for at the KärntenTherme thermal spa near our hotel in Villach. Various aquatic attractions await you in the 32 to 34°C indoor and outdoor thermal pools, such as bubble loungers, massage jets, neck showers, and floor bubbles. In the indoor thermal pool of the wellness hotel in Austria, you can also enjoy the grotto with acoustic and light features. On the spa’s rooftop, you can enjoy the soothing effect of the whirlpool. If you want to hone your swimming skills, we recommend a trip to the 25-metre-long sports pool with six lanes and a time tracking system. Afterwards, relax on the spacious sunbathing lawn. Children and teenagers have all kinds of fun in the water at the KärntenTherme right next to the wellness hotel in Villach: Slides, river rapids, mermaids, and much more enchant water lovers of all ages.
Invigorating thermal water
The highlight of our thermal hotel: the pool Thermal-Urquellbecken. The water in this pool comes directly from the thermal spring located beneath the KärntenTherme, flowing through the gravel bed. As the spring bubbles continuously—producing ten million liters of thermal water every day!—and excess water is constantly released, the pool's water is completely renewed every three to five hours. So, when you step into the Urquell Pool early in the morning, you're immersing yourself in crystal-clear water that no one has ever swum in before. And the best part: hotel guests can enjoy their swim from 7:00 a.m.—a full hour before the spa opens to the public. The Thermal Urquellbecken is located in the Warmbad health centre, opposite the hotel. Hotel guests can access the health centre directly via a connecting passage.
Pure relaxation
Would you like to experience even deeper relaxation? Then an aroma oil or relaxation massage is just the thing for you. Trust the hands of skilled masseurs and beauty experts and give your body the care it deserves. The various treatments ensure pure and soft skin. You can also visit the hamam, a steam bath with silver quartzite that retains a pleasant heat of 40 to 60°C. Here, muscles relax, pores open up, and the subsequent scrub with a wild silk glove ensures silky smooth skin. Finally, the body is cleansed with olive soap foam and showered with cold water.
Soothing warmth
At the KärntenTherme, which can be reached from the spa hotel in Austria via the “bathrobe” indoor bridge, you can also look forward to two Finnish outdoor saunas, a bio sauna, a hamam with two steam baths, a separate ladies’ sauna area, two infrared cabins, and spacious panoramic relaxation areas. One outdoor Finnish sauna has space for 40 to 50 people and is heated by two ovens to approx. 85°C; the second is located on the rooftop of the spa and has room for 25 to 30 people at 80 to 100°C. Afterwards, you can cool off at the ice fountain. Hourly aromatic infusions with different levels of intensity, a sound and light system, and the sky bar complete the sauna experience. A bio sauna (60°C), a steam bath (45°C), and a fresh air terrace await you in the ladies’ sauna area.
