ICE SKATING in Carinthia IN THE SOUTH OF AUSTRIA
Ice skating in Carinthia: enjoying the fresh ice and the Carinthian lakes.
Why do not you change your skies for ice skates? When the Carinthian lakes are frozen, it is a unique experience to skate surrounded by a beautiful landscape on wide areas on natural ice.
Our Tip: Every year in January, Austria's highest lake, the Weissensee, is the venue for the world's largest skating event, also known as the Dutch 11-city tour. Apart from that, the Weissensee is a quiet natural jewel, where children playfully learn ice skating on natural ice and ambitious ice runners refine their skills. The Weissensee is, according to experience, from January on, ice skating released (weather dependent).
Other ice rinks in the Villach region:
In the cold season the Afritzer Lake also attracts ice skating (floodlight in the evening).
In an almost half an hour from the hotel you will reach this idyllic lake in the middle of the Nock Mountains.
The ice area at the Rathausplatz in the center of Villach is weather-dependent. As early as at the beginning of November, you can enjoy the popular winter sport here. Tip: Ice skates on site.
Two other popular ice skating areas, the Silbersee and Vassacher See, depending on the weather from the end of January on.
